Hunan Aluminum Alloy semi-solid forming Engineering Technology Research Center is approved by the Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Department of the project in May 2013, which is relying on Hunan Wenchang Advanced Material Technology Co., Ltd. to build the Engineering Technology Research Center. As a research and development platform for develop technical communication and technology radiation, it is specialized in semi-solid aluminum alloy forming technology, products and equipment, promote the innovation and industrialization of semi-solid aluminum alloy forming technology, and training material science talent team.
Professor Xu Jun, review expert of National Science and Technology Program, and the holder of special allowance of State Council, serves as director of the Engineering Center. The Engineering Center now has 21 permanent R & D personnel, including 2 professors, 2 senior engineers, and 11 staffs with master's degree or above.
Since its foundation, the center has undertaken more than 6 municipal science and technology projects, including 2 provincial and ministerial level projects. It has won 13 national patent authorizations which including 3 invention patent, 2 enterprise technical standard and 3 provincial and ministerial awards.
The engineering Center covers an area of 2,000 square meters, and owns research and development rooms, laboratories, testing centers, technical services, industrial promotion department and other departments, which have more than 100 sets of R & D testing equipment, it has built three lines, that is the pilot-scale production line of high-silicon aluminum alloy semi-solid ingot, the pilot-scale production line of new energy vehicle air conditioning turbine disk rotor and the pilot-scale production line of SIC particle reinforced aluminum matrix composite materials and its high-end parts. The R & D results have been used in bulk, such as A390 high silicon aluminum semi-solid ingots, automotive air conditioning swash plate, piston, scroll, rotor and aluminum composite wheel brake disc.
The Engineering Center practices the talent exchange and technical cooperation strategy of "bringing in & going out", establishing a wide range of technical exchanges and cooperation with Beijing Nonferrous Metals Research Institute, Valeo Group, Brunel University, Hunan Institute of Humanities and Technology, Chongqing Construction Group and other domestic and foreign Universities.
The Engineering Center will continue to focus on the national major technical needs in new materials, automobile, rail transportation and other areas, observe market-oriented and innovation-driven philosophy to solving the frontier issues of semi-solid aluminum alloy forming technology and the application of semi-solid forming technology in the national economic construction and national defense construction of aluminum alloy materials, and strives to build it into a industrialization demonstration platform for the research and development of semi-solid aluminum alloy forming technology and equipment.
